    Accessibility at Ember

Digital learning should work for every student and every teacher — including people who use assistive technology, keyboard-only navigation, or reduced motion.

    Last updated: July 5, 2026

    Keyboard-first navigation

Core flows work without a mouse — including login, dashboard, courses, and grading. Skip links help screen reader and keyboard users jump to main content.

    Screen reader support

Semantic landmarks, labeled forms, and descriptive ARIA on interactive controls so assistive technology can parse the app clearly.

    Readable contrast & typography

UI colors and type scales are tuned for WCAG 2.1 AA contrast on primary surfaces, with light and dark themes that respect system preferences.

    Reduced motion

Marketing animations and non-essential motion honor prefers-reduced-motion so vestibular-sensitive users get a calmer experience.

    Accessible course content

Teachers can run an in-app accessibility checker on course materials to catch heading order, alt text, and contrast issues before publishing.

    Inclusive by default

Accessibility is part of our design system — not a bolt-on. New features are reviewed for keyboard, contrast, and screen reader compatibility.

    Conformance status

Ember has partial automated evidence against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This is not a full conformance claim: an independent audit, assistive-technology coverage, and a formal VPAT remain open.

We test critical journeys — sign-in, dashboard, courses, and assignments — with automated accessibility checks and manual keyboard/screen reader passes each release.

    Standards we follow

    • WCAG 2.2 Level AA (target)
    • Section 508 alignment for U.S. public sector
    • EN 301 549 considerations for EU procurement
    • VPAT 2.5 planned after independent audit
